This is a community for people firmly on the path to fatFIRE or already there. Early-stage questions belong in Mentor Monday threads. Low effort, gift advice or "ask-a-rich-person" posts, reposts, and cross posts from other subreddits may also be removed.Ģ. If one doesn't exist for your post, it's very likely that your post is not relevant to fatFIRE and risks removal. Discussing investment strategies, expenses, tax strategies, cost of living, and etc. Trying to do things on my suck at list would take me 10x as long, and I would be stuck for days or weeks doing (or not doing) that.Posts should be specifically related to the fatFIRE pursuit and lifestyle - as opposed to regular FIRE or LeanFIRE. so i would then sit down, and transfer, or eliminate everything off my "to do " list that was on my I suck at list.ĭoing that freed up my time and energy to work at what I was good at and focused their. When ever I was stuck, I just compared my "to do list" with I suck at list.Īnd amazingly it was 80% or more, just like my I suck at list. I focused on my I'm good at and did amazing things Instead of trying to improve my "I Suck at" side, I looked to eliminate or hand it off. I took a piece of paper, drew a line down the center. I was challenged years ago, at this and it was life saver. (sometimes they can mesh, but often its the un-fun things that need to get done that don't that kills biz) it helps you remember what your doing.Īfter I started having cash come in, i asked, is what I'M doing right now making me money? or making me happy?Īsking that during the day helped me eliminate some of my "unfocused" moments and redirected me towards what was effective, instead of what made me good. One I used when starting was, "what is the fastest track to cash?" ask this repeatedly through the day. you need the rest.ġ0 4 hr days of hyper focus are better than 10 12 hr days of kinda focus. Go to bed early if your a day person, you need the rest.ĭon't get up to early if your a night person, same thing. When you make the money to take more time off, great,īut I have found that tighter my schedule the more efficient. Till then, your a time killer, and you should be locked up for that. You only make money when you make a sale. this is a hard one to unwire after years of doing it. (wow) however, with 4+ Hrs per day of hyper focus, it beats 10 hrs of putzing around (which is what most people who make the transition do) they are used to " I have to be at work for the 40Hrs" so they get into wasting time mode. If you understand that most people only get 3-5Hrs a day of real work done, then you will realize most companies run at about 50% efficiency. ignore the phone, ignore the email, shutdown facebook, lock the door. when you set a time, stick to it, and attack the project you need to accomplish with laser focus. makes my other time much more productive.Ĥ. it might be only a couple hours but its my play and do what ever I want time. this took me years to figure out, but if I know i can go Screw around on Thursday morning, or a Monday morning, then my rest of the week is a bit more relaxed. My whole focus for each day is to get my 1 major thing done that day, everything else is secondary.ģ. i spend most of my Tues on the phone, I eliminate everything else for Tues. I know i need to get 10 Emails done, I know I need to check with accounting, I know I need to meet with manager, I know I need to get some down time, and coffee and catch up on industry news. What this means is if you have 10 things you have to get done every week, write them down and put them on the schedule. i suggest a tight one at first, but will relax it a bit more later mr pavlov has had it in for you, and until you can start the UN-training, your going to flounder. Now for those of you who are hyperventilating, and thinking, but im quitting so i don't have to do what my boss says, or others say, ect. If you don't have one you will kill more time than you thought possible. at first it will seem counter intuitive because your leaving a job. Here is some advice from someone who has coached a lot of people from the workday to the work for self day.ġ.
